Film Language:Mise-en-scene

Well, just to recap on this week - we have explored the importance of mise-en-scene in film-making, what it is and how it could impact on an audience. I hope to read your analysis and application of this aspect of film language on your blogs together with your chosen film clip and stills.
I will provide some feedback on the accuracy of your writing, use of media terminology and attention to detail. This will be on a print version of your post and I expect you to do the necessary corrections and amendments! I will post my horror clip and ideas up soon.

My Audience Profile

Demographics:

Gender:Female
Age: Old enough!
ABC: C1
Education: Graduate/Teacher PGCE
Occupation: Teacher
Religion: Church of England
Marital Status: Widow with 3 grown-up children
Nationality: British
Income: Enough!

Psychographics:
I am a quietly confident person, I have to be in my job although I still get butterflies in new situations or if there is tension. I do like being creative and although I think I'm a 'Jack of all trades master of none' writing is my real love and what I spend most of my spare time doing. I do like a good story - whether it's a personal one or a film or a good book - so long as it's well-told, that is what matters. One of my favourite films is Brief Encounter which is perfect - no wasted time, a brilliant script, excellent acting and expert cinematography. Have a look at the clip above. I do like a good tragedy, a bit of sadness in the tale, something to tug at the heartstrings.
As far as music goes, again I have  a very eclectic taste ranging across rock, folk, classical etc. but my favourite is another 'oldie' Leonard Cohen.

The Scottish Question

Tomorrow is the day! Will it be Yes or No? How much will it affect you? How much do you care? Please complete the Induction Task based on this important moment and how the media has been representing both sides of the argument. Yes, we have to take a quite limited approach due to the time scale (24hours and counting) but there is time to research some sources and put forward some analysis with some personal opinion. Please submit by midnight tonight. No-one wants yesterday's news.
